Yamaha FB-01

The Yamaha FB-01 is a half-rack synthesizer module. It is a 4-operator synth with 8 available FM algorithms, and was one of the first multitimbral synthesizers in its price range. It has the Attack Velocity and Adjust parameters, and was the only FM synth with these parameters before the SY77/99 was released. It also has one Noise Generator function, which no other FM synth has, except the SFG-01/05 FM unit for MSX computers. It has no built-in effects, like the DX21's chorus effect. It is not designed for front-panel editing, so an external MIDI SysEx editor is required to edit patches. I keep it around as a backup hardware synth in case my laptop fails, but it does have some classic 80's sounds I like to use from time to time.
